Social ad targeting
firm Media6Degrees on Friday named Richard Kosinski as its new Chief Revenue Officer. Kosinski most recently served as digital head at Westwood One -- which provides syndicated radio content to radio
and TV broadcasters -- where he was responsible for the company's digital media operations.
In his new role, Kosinski will oversee all sales initiatives at Media6Degrees, including
relationships with marketers and agencies, and will serve as a member of the company's executive team.
Prior to Westwood One, Kosinski was Yahoo's first business and finance category development
officer, and he co-founded political ad unit Yahoo Politics.
"I was involved in selling social media in its earliest incarnation while at Yahoo," said Kosinski. "Since then, the social Web has
been firmly established in the media landscape."
Replacing co-founder Joe Doran, Media6Degrees named ex-Google exec Tom Phillips as CEO late last year.
"The solution that Media6Degrees
offers advertisers is unique," Phillips said. Simply put, it targets consumers based on their connections via social networks.
Last year, Media6Degrees partnered with Havas Digital to create ad
solutions for the agency's Virtual Brand Network for Advertisers.
With Kosinski, Phillips said the company will continue to explore new ways to capitalize on its technology, while "more
effectively communicating its value proposition" to the industry.
Earlier in his career, Kosinski spent ten years as a senior executive in ad sales at Dow Jones and The Wall Street
Journal.
