It's a testament to how much our world has changed -- and how thoroughly the geographic United States has been tamed in last century and a half -- that one can actually look forward to a trip up
to Donner Pass after a big snowfall.
The folks at the Sugar Bowl Resort at Donner Summit say there are now six feet of snow up on the peak that trapped a party of west-bound travelers 164 years
ago. The Norden, CA resort has moved its opening forward 16 days. The ski resort says conditions there for a turkey-day schussing are the best they've seen in many years.
