Disney has
re-upped and expanded its online distribution deal with Netflix, allowing for some current shows on the Disney Channel to be streamed about two weeks after broadcast.
Episodes of some series
will be available at a minimum of 15 days after a live broadcast.
Also, with the new deal, more ABC series in the library will be streamed. And for the first time, prior-season episodes of ABC
Family shows will be available.
The arrangement makes available all episodes of ABC series such as "Grey's Anatomy" and "Desperate Housewives," except from the current season. For the first
time, previous seasons of "Brothers & Sisters" will be accessible, as well as episodes of former ABC show "Ugly Betty."
ABC Studios-owned shows "Scrubs" and "Reaper" will also be joining the
Netflix online service.
The content is accessible with a monthly Netflix subscription. In addition to some content over the Web, Netflix delivers to an Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 as well as
Internet-enabled TV sets.
