Guerlain Uncorks A Gen Y Shalimar

For 86 years, Guerlain's Shalimar has been one of the world's best-known fragrances, and the Paris-based company has invented a version meant to appeal to younger women. It describes Shalimar Parfum Initial as "a luminous interpretation with ambery floral notes," and like the original, says it has bergamot, rose, jasmine and iris.

Women's Wear Daily reports that the reinvention came the 17-year-old niece of the company's chief perfumer, who asked him to "make me my Shalimar." Model Natalia Vodianova, the face of the LVMH-owned Guerlain, appears in print ads for the new scent, which will be available in the U.S. in August.
