FSN Rebranded As Root Sports

FSN has been rebranded. Root Sports is the new brand identity for the three regional sports networks formerly known as FSN Northwest, FSN Pittsburgh and FSN Rocky Mountain. It debuts April 1 airing the 2011 Major League Baseball season openers for the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies. Root Sports is one of the strongest regional sports networks in the U.S., collectively broadcasting sport events from more than 25 teams and conferences through exclusive programming and distribution partnerships to more than 8.3 million viewers across 18 states.

    Root Sports? Is this a sports network featuring battling tomato plants? Did they actually do focus groups and found this the most appealing rebranding option?
