As part of its ongoing effort to expand its corporate operating team, MDC Partners, the Toronto-based agency holding company, has hired Anne Bologna as a managing director. In her new role, Bologna will be responsible for a portfolio of shops that includes several of the advertising, branding and research companies owned and operated by MDC.

She will be based in New York and will report to David Dabill, who joined MDC as chief administrative officer in July.

Bologna’s hire reunites her with Dabill. The two have worked on and off together at different agencies over the past 15 years, including stints at Toy and Fallon Worldwide.

MDC has grown rapidly, adding nearly 20 advertising and marketing communications firms to its roster of holdings in the last two years. Bologna is the latest corporate executive hired to help manage the holding company’s expanding assets.

MDC said that exactly which firms Bologna would be responsible for is still being worked out.

“Our business is simple,” Bologna stated. “It all comes down to great talent and great work. MDC really understands that, and that’s why I’m excited to join the team.”

Most recently, Bologna was executive vice president and general manager at the New York office of Cramer-Krasselt. Before that she was founding partner and CEO at Toy, which at its peak attracted clients such as Amazon, Budweiser and Google. Early last year, however, the scrappy independent shut its doors after four-plus years.

Earlier, Bologna spent nearly two decades at Publicis Groupe's Fallon Worldwide, rising to become president of the agency’s New York office, where she is credited with doubling the office’s billings.
