Augeo Marketing CMO Ken Greer said email marketing isn't dead, but there is a problem hurting engagement. “I think the problem with email marketing today is ubiquity,” he said.
He says there is "email coma" and “if we can move somebody from this state of inbox overload to something a little happier” called engagement, effectiveness will be improved.
He went on to say that email marketers need to focus more on the bottom line: “The end game of enagement is so you can drive business performance ... so that eventually we have a sustainable impact on business peformance.”
On questions about the death of email, he seemed perplexed since results are such that any direct marketer would be happy with.
