Dentsu has restructured its global organization, creating a new entity called the Dentsu Network, the oversight arm for all of the company’s operations outside of Japan. Dentsu veteran Tim Andree has been promoted to oversee the new unit as president and CEO.

In his new role, Andree will oversee 82 separate business units in 29 countries.

The company said the move was designed to speed decision-making and better implement best practices across the company. “By doing so, we hope to provide better solutions for our global, regional and local clients,” stated Dentsu Inc. president/CEO Tadashi Ishii.

Previously, Andree was head of Dentsu’s operations in the Americas, Europe and Australia. Andree’s core management team at the new network includes Kunihiro Matsushima, vice chairman, who also holds the title of executive officer of Dentsu Inc.; Tim Pollak, vice chairman, and Nicholas Rey, CFO.

The restructuring is the second major management move by the Tokyo-based ad holding company in as many weeks. Earlier, the company confirmed it was elevating agency veteran and mcgrarrybowen co-founder and CEO John McGarry to the new corporate role of special executive advisor.

In his new role, McGarry, who will report to Andree and to the parent company’s board of directors, will provide advice on company growth plans, including input on new business development practices and potential acquisition strategies.

Mcgarrybowen was formed a decade ago and bought by Dentsu in 2008. John McGarry will give up CEO duties at the shop he founded to take on the new corporate role.

For now, Dentsu said mcgarrybowen will be overseen by a new management committee that will be headed by agency co-founder Gordon Bowen as chairman. Others on the committee include Stuart Owen (another co-founder) who assumes the title of vice chairman; Eric Vukmirovich, COO; Bill Borrelle and Tim Scott, heads of the New York and Chicago offices respectively, and chief digital officer John McGarry III.
