Buick Shows New Enclave

Is it redeisgned, revised, or new? Buick will begin selling selling the 2013 Enclave later this year, and is showing it now at a press event prior to the New York Auto Show. I was speaking to a designer who explained to me that it's not easy to evolve a vehicle whose desisgn was a big point of its appeal. He told me an interesting anecdote about how the chief designer referred to the Enclave profile as "the bone." That image makes perfect sense when you see the vehicle. the design suggests that kind of unity. If you look at a scapula or tibula it has a certain taffy-like fluidity, as if it were stretched. The Enclave, which is a seven-passenger CUV has that look.

The auotmaker has also made the new Enclave more technologically advanced, with cross-traffic warning, and a new integrated telmatics/infotainment system. It may be a step behind Infiniti JX, which will engage the brakes when it senses a potential collision. But Pat Morrissey, a GM communications exec. says that will be rolling out first in Cadillac.
