Procter & Gamble has selected 28 U.S. athletes it will sponsor in the 2012 Summer Olympics. The athletes will pitch a variety of P&G brands as the company begins its far-reaching Olympics
marketing campaign.
The athletes include 23 current U.S. Olympic hopefuls, one who is retired, and four Paralympians. They’ll represent 13 P&G brands. In one of P&G’s most
ambitious marketing campaigns ever, the athletes will be part of P&G’s worldwide Olympics sponsorship that will include more than 150 athletes from around the world.
Some of
the U.S. athletes, including swimmers Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin, have already been announced. Both will represent shampoo brands: Phelps, Head & Shoulders, and Coughlin, Pantene.
