The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will announce its decision on the proposed $1.9 million acquisition of pay-TV operator Austar by Foxtel on April 10. The date was moved up from
March 29, presumably to give Foxtel and the ACCC more time to negotiate on the draft’s undertaking, amid concerns from the regulator about competition in the Internet television market. Should
approval come on Tuesday, the Federal Court will rule on April 13.
