The Mobile Marketing Association has launched its latest chapter in Mexico as part of the trade
group’s broader effort to expand throughout Latin America.
"With the opening of operations in Mexico, we are following through on our 2012 plan to build councils throughout the region,
including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, where the mobile market is presenting extraordinarily strong growth," says Marcio Chaer, managing director of MMA Latin America.
Daniel
Geztel, director of Mobext in Mexico, will be the MMA’s first country manager for Mexico. Banamex and Mexican telecom giant Terra are founding members of the latest MMA branch.
Separately, the MMA said Wednesday it will have a prominent presence at
this year’s Cannes Lions awards to mark mobile marketing for the first time being included as a separate category at the event. With Velti, the MMA will co-sponsor a “Mobile Circus”
outside the Palais where it will honor mobile winners, hold roundtable discussions, and perhaps most importantly, allow visitors to recharge their phones.
