In its aggressive effort to woo advertisers and agencies, Facebook last year launched Facebook Studio, site showcasing the best examples of creative campaigns on the site. Following its rocky IPO
last month and increased skepticism about its ad model, the company needs to the support of the ad community more than ever.
To that end, Facebook has launched the Creative Council, a new
initiative bringing together top executives from more than a dozen agencies “to serve as a sounding board for both Facebook product ideas and key agency needs,” according to the social
network.
Announced at the Cannes Lions ad festival, Council members include Dave Droga, founder and CEO of Droga 5; Colleen DeCourcy, founder and CEO, Socialistic; Mark Tutssel, CCO, Leo
Burnett; and James Hilton, CCO, AKQA. (The Creative Council serves as a counterpart to the Client Council Facebook announced last year at Cannes.)
In addition, the company rolled out Facebook
Studio Edge, a new section within Facebook Studio meant to keep agencies up to speed on the social network’s latest products and practices. It will allow people to take 10-15 minute interactive
courses on topics such as Pages apps, and ads. Beyond that, Facebook Studio’s directory of agency listings will now also highlight listings for individuals.
