Meredith Corporation on Monday named
Carolyn Bekkedahl as its new senior vice president of digital sales.
Effective mid-September, Bekkedahl will oversee all of Meredith’s digital sales operations across
AllRecipes.com and its entire Women’s Network. (By Meredith’s count, these properties currently reach roughly 40 million unique visitors a month.)
Most recently,
Bekkedahl served as chief revenue officer for Gilt City, the local focused arm of the online luxury flash sale discount retailer Gilt Groupe.
That doesn’t mean that Meredith is
getting into the discount service and event business -- but Bekkedahl’s experience in the field was attractive to her new boss, Dick Porter, president of media sales for the Meredith National
Media Group.
“Her unique background across all digital platforms and magazine media … [makes] her ideally suited to lead our digital sales team,” Porter stated on
Monday.
Prior to Gilt City, Bekkedahl served as president of content syndication company Mochila, Inc. She originally joined Mochila as chief digital officer and was credited with
securing over 350 media brands as partners.
Bekkedahl’s media background also includes serving as president of corporate sales for Active Lifestyle and Entertainment Groups at
American Media. She also served as SVP and publisher at Shape magazine.
