Yahoo Names Google's De Castro as COO

In its latest high-level hiring under CEO Marrisa Mayer, Yahoo on Monday named Henrique de Castro as its new chief operating officer. De Castro was most recently VP of Google’s worldwide partner business solutions group, responsible for ad platforms and service for the search giant’s publisher and commerce partners.

Prior to joining Google, he spent two years at Dell Corp, managing sales and business development operations across Western Europe. His background also includes work as a consultant for McKinsey & Co. De Castro, won’t start at Yahoo until Jan. 22, 2013, was lured away from Google with a total compensation package worth $60 million, according to an AP report.

The hiring comes just a few weeks after Yahoo named former Fortinet executive Ken Goldman as CFO, succeeding Tim Morse. Other recent top appointments by Mayer, who became Yahoo CEO in June, include ex-Lockerz.com CEO Kathy Savitt as CMO.
