CNN To Air Bleacher Report Programming

Jeff-Zucker-A2

Longtime Miami Dolphins fan Jeff Zucker continues to emphasize sports programming as he looks to bolster CNN ratings. The network will develop programming under the Bleacher Report banner.

Bleacher Report is a Web site under the control of CNN sibling Turner Sports. CNN and sister HLN will air some daily reports linked with the brand, while CNN plans some longer specials.

A Bleacher Report Super Bowl special will air on CNN Saturday. The daily reports will air in the morning on CNN and more frequently on HLN.

CNN recently hired reporter Rachel Nichols away from ESPN to broaden its sports coverage. Nichols will co-host the Super Bowl special along with Turner Sports’ Ernie Johnson.

Turner acquired Bleacher Report, launched in 2007, last year and says it has 11 million unique visitors a month. Turner Sports oversees digital operations for the NBA, NCAA and PGA and sells advertising for NASCAR.com.

When Turner acquired Bleacher Report last year, its sports chief David Levy stated the deal gives Turner an increased presence “across all screens throughout the entire year.” The CNN arrangement is likely to help build its traffic.
