Norwegian Sponsors NYC Wi-Fi

Norwegian Cruise Line is the latest brand to sponsor free Wi-Fi hotspots in New York City through a new deal with Boingo Wireless. Under the agreement, Norwegian will sponsor Wi-Fi access at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports as well as select subway stations in February.

The effort is part of the company’s ad campaign for its newest ship, the 4000-passenge Norwegian Breakaway, which arrives in New York in May and will be the largest cruise ship ever to make the city its home port year-round. Prior Boingo Wi-Fi sponsors in New York have included technology advertisers such as Google and Microsoft.

Boingo provides Wi-Fi at 600,000 hotspots at major airports, hotel chains, cafes, restaurants and other locations worldwide. The company expanded footprint in the U.S. last year through its acquisition of Cloud Nine Media's Wi-Fi advertising network.
