AlwaysOn Media announced their top 100 private companies for 2013, and it doesn't take much searching to find a real-time media company on the list. Rocket Fuel, OpenX, BrightRoll, BlueKai, and Adap.tv are just some of the companies in the industry that were honored as a top 100 private company by AlwaysOn.

"The advertising industry was one of the first to show real-life applications of big data," said Paul Alfieri, VP of marketing, Turn. "Programmatic advertising is putting data and technology into action and creating ROI for brands." Turn was also included on the list under the "B2B: Advertising Network" category. 

In addition to the list of the top 100 private companies, AlwaysOn released a list of 35 "Companies to Watch" in 2013. AdRoll, Gradient X, Nexage, and TubeMogul were all honored in that category. The market is growing, and it would be no surprise to see even more companies involved in the real-time space on AlwaysOn Media's list for 2014.
