NPR Launches Mobile Site

  • May 14, 2013

NPR just launched its mobile Web site to augment its digital platform. The new mobile design drops the use of abridged content for full versions of each story, along with easier links to audio, photos and video. “It’s easier for us to build a coherent, full experience at the small-screen level and let it grow up to the big screen rather than try to create something on a big screen and then figure out what things to take away to make it work on a small screen,” said Mark Stencel, NPR’s digital news editor. The site is designed for IOS and Android devices. Cooper said that currently only about 18% of its traffic comes through the mobile Web site -- a number that jumps when NPR’s news apps are added into the mix.
