TBS, TNT Will Start Live Video Streaming

TBS and TNT will start offering live streaming of its cable channels, and offer mobile phone apps starting this summer, the Turner Broadcasting networks announced at their upfront presentation  in New York today.

The TBS/TNT streaming will include TNT's coverage of the NBA, including theregular season, playoffs and All-Star Weekend and  TBS's regular-season and playoff coverage of Major League Baseball; and both networks’ coverage of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.

The TNT and TBS live streams will be available through http://www.tntdrama.com and http://www.tbs.com, as well as free iPhone/iPad apps, with additional platforms added by the end of the year. To watch the live streams, viewers will be required to log in using their cable/satellite-provider account information.

ABC on Sunday said it would begin live streaming of its network on owned stations in New York and Philadelphia (it started yesterday on iPhone and iPad devices),  with other ABC-owned stations and affiliates offering the app later, and with an Android app also on its way. The live streaming is only available to viewers who also have cable or satellite TV subscriptions.
