Facebook Adds Shared Photo Albums

Facebook has introduced a new feature that allows multiple users to upload photos to the same album. Someone creating an album will have the option to add up to 50 contributors to a photo album, each of whom can upload up to 200 pictures, Mashable reports.

 

Previously, only the original album creator could add photos and the number of images was capped at 1,000. Shared photo albums are rolling out today to a small subset of English-speaking users before expanding to English-speakers internationally.

Shared albums will have three privacy settings: public, friends of contributors, and contributors only. Album creators will be able to delete or modify photos, while contributors will retain the ability to edit photos they upload.

The idea arose from user feedback and the new feature was built during of one of Facebook’s famed hackathons
