Yahoo, MSN Veteran Moore Named Cheezburger COO

Humor publishing network Cheezburger has named former Microsoft and Yahoo veteran Scott Moore as president and chief operating officer. In that role, he will oversee product, technology, sales, marketing and account management and report to founder and CEO Ben Huh.

Moore joins Cheezburger from London-based directory provider Hibu pic where he was chief digital officer. He is better known, however, for his tenure at Yahoo, where he served as head of media, before joining Microsoft in 2009 to become GM and executive product of MSN. He previously was also president of MSNBC.com and publisher of Slate.

Cheezburger properties include lolcats hub I Can Haz Cheezburger, The Daily What, FAIL Blog, Know Your Meme and Memebase. The Seattle-based company says it has more than 7 million U.S. unique visitors monthly across the desktop and mobile. Huh said in a statement that Moore’s arrival would help Cheezburger enter the next phase of its growth as an entertainment destination.

Besides serving as president and COO, Moore will join the company's board. Cheezburger to date has raised $69 million in funding from investors including Foundry Group, Madrona Venture Group, and Softbank Capital.
