Tina Brown To Exit 'Daily Beast'

  • September 11, 2013
Power editor Tina Brown, the current EIC of The Daily Beast, is parting ways with IAC, owner of the online magazine, per BuzzFeed. Sources say IAC will not renew Brown's contract, which expires in January. The future of The Daily Beast is unknown — it may be sold, closed or search for a new editor to replace Brown, who became well-known in the U.S. as editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. The split between IAC -- which owns such businesses as Match.com, Ask, and College Humor — and Brown comes just over a month after the sale of Newsweek’s remaining assets to IBT Media. comScore figures said traffic to The Daily Beast increased 15% year-over-year to 6.06 million unique visitors. The Hollywood Reporter cited a Daily Beast representative saying advertising sales are up 22.5% year-over-year.
