ZenithOptimedia Takes Control Of Romania, Expands Global Net

On the heels of its deal to form the world’s biggest ad agency company by merging with Omnicom, Publicis this morning announced an acquisition to expand one of its flagship media services agency networks, ZenithOptimedia Group.

Publicis said it has taken “majority control” of Zenith Romania, a Bucharest-based shop that previously operated as an affiliate of the global media network.

Terms were not disclosed, but Publicis said Zenith Romania was launched in 2000 and currently has an organization of 50 people providing a full range of media services, including digital, to a roster of both international and local brands such as Carrefour, Reckitt Benckiser, L’Oréal, Nestlé, ING Group and Mercedes-Benz.

Zenith Romania is now one of 250 regional offices in the ZenithOptimedia network, and operates as part of its ZenithOptimedia Northern, Central and Eastern Europe division.

The office continues to be run by Managing Director Maria Tudor, a veteran Saatchi media exec who helped launch the Romanian shop in 2000. She was named International Advertising Agency association's "Personality of the Year' for 2012.
