Pinterest is devising new ways for brands to tap into creator-made
content on the platform, inviting businesses to sponsor creator Pins while expanding the app's content monetization opportunities for users.
Starting now, a creator can improve their chance of
being promoted by brands by mentioning specific brands in their Pin titles and descriptions, continue making shoppable content on the platform, and ensure that their content is brand safe.
Creators will receive emails to alert them that a brand has decided to promote their Pin.
However, creators have the option to opt out of content promotion, a choice that, according to
Pinterest’s update announcement, will not affect any campaigns the creator is already running.
By allowing brands to immediately sponsor creator Pins, Pinterest is introducing a new way
for creators to make money. Prior to this option, creators have depended on tagging a brand in attempts to be approved by the brand for an official collaboration.

Brands have also been able to
turn official creator partnerships into Idea Ads, designed to expand the promotional content's reach on Pinterest.
Being able to promote any eligible creator content across Pinterest allows
brands to go about partnering with creators and running user-generated content in a more casual way, while helping businesses discover a bigger pool of future partnership opportunities.
