Mattel has formed Playground Productions, a new division within the group that will create multiplatform projects across various brands, such as Barbie, Monster High, Max Steel and more. It will be
working closely on the development and launch of the new animated "Team Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome," debuting in 2014. David Voss, a 20-year veteran of the toy and entertainment business, will
lead Playground Productions as senior vice president. Former Nickelodeon exec Julia Pistor will be producer and executive producer of feature films.
