PubMatic Appoints Maekawa As Country Manager, Japan

Supply-side platform (SSP) PubMatic this week announced the appointment of Yosuke Maekawa as country manager, Japan -- a new position at the company.

PubMatic has been quickly growing its Japanese business, first entering the market in January 2014 after partnering with So-net Media Networks, a subsidiary of Sony. The company followed that up by launching a platform built specifically for Japanese publishers in April.

"Japan continues to be a huge focus for PubMatic as we increase our presence across Asia-Pacific,” stated Rob Jonas, chief revenue officer at PubMatic. “Yosuke's appointment comes at a time when programmatic ad spend in Japan is set to expand rapidly."

Japan is the fourth-largest country in terms of RTB (real-time bidding) market share, according to a recent Accordant Media report.

Maekawa was most recently at comScore Japan, which he joined from Yahoo Japan. “Publishers are increasingly looking to premium programmatic to monetize guaranteed inventory at scale,” he said in a statement.
