Evan Shapiro, the
fast-rising network TV chief who left IFC to launch Participant Media’s Pivot, is joining NBCUniversal as executive vice president-digital enterprises.
NBCU described the
position as a new “company-wide strategic development” role developing digital opportunities aimed at “emerging audiences.” Specifically, it said it will focus on
“alternative platforms and direct-to-consumer distribution models.”
Shapiro, who will be based in New York, will report to NBCU Executive Vice President Cesar Conde.
Shapiro launched Pivot in August 2013. Prior to that, he was president of IFC TV and the Sundance Channel.
