Nevins To Become Showtime CEO In 2016

Showtime Networks will get a new chief executive officer next year -- its president David Nevins.

Matthew Blank will be stepping down as CEO of Showtime Networks after two decades on the job. Blank will continue as chairman of Showtime after the change.

Nevins will have the title of president/chief executive officer and will be responsible for all day-to-day strategic management, as well as all creative development and acquisition of premium programming and marketing. His contract is now extended through 2018.

Under his time as president, Nevins launched eight consecutive big series, including “Homeland,” “Ray Donovan,” “Masters of Sex,” “Shameless,” “Penny Dreadful,” “Episodes,” “The Affair” and “House of Lies.”

With regard to Blank’s transition, Leslie Moonves, president/chief executive officer of CBS Corp, stated: “At each and every turn, he has shown terrific instincts and knowledge of the business. His patience, energy and dedication were central to building Showtime into the powerhouse it is today.”

Moonves adds: “It is a credit to Matt that we are now prepared to add the CEO duties to a talented executive like David Nevins, who is more than ready to take on this important role.”
