SendGrid Expands Email Marketing Services

SendGrid played catch-up with other email providers, unveiling on Wednesday Marketing Campaigns, an email feature that allows marketers to create, send and track campaigns on the same platform as transactional emails.

Marketing Campaigns is built on SendGrid’s core email delivery platform and features email campaign management services, including subscriber and contact list management, triggered automation, promotional campaigns and segmentation capabilities.

SendGrid also provides performance analytic reports for email marketers to review the success of their campaigns in real-time, a 7-day report, or a 30-day report. Statistics can be segmented by geographic region or device and email engagement rates, such as clicks and opens, can be tracked. A downloadable mobile app for iOS-powered email marketers can review real-time delivery analytics and manage unsubscribe requests. Additional features to increase email engagement rates include subject line variation and A/B testing for mobile optimization.

The new feature also marks the email delivery company’s continued expansion into the email marketing services and campaign management industry. SendGrid announced triggered email service Threads in October.

Although SendGrid's new product features are not groundbreaking and can be found at competing email marketing providers MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, and ConstantContact, among others, the benefit of Marketing Campaigns services may lie in the fact that it is built directly on SendGrid’s cloud-based email delivery platform. Users can create, customize and segment campaigns, organize their workflow, and deliver customer communication -- all within one easy-to-use Web interface.

SendGrid claims its deliver more than 20 billion emails a month for its customers.
