Interpublic Group’s Campbell Ewald has been named the first agency of record for Valero
Energy Corp, an international manufacturer of transportation fuels, petrochemical products, and power.
Campbell Ewald will be responsible for branding and creative, as well as media
planning and buying. The scope of the account includes both B2C and B2B initiatives. An early focus will creating campaigns that raise the profile of Valero’s branded gasoline.
The agency will also develop programs that improve consumer experiences and support distributor relations and operations. The account will be run out of Campbell Ewald’s San Antonio office,
with additional support from the agency’s Detroit office.
The first work under this partnership will debut in 2016, though executives say it is too early to know if it will be
aimed at business or consumers.
“Campbell Ewald’s proven ability to help consumers understand and care about companies in the commodity category was extremely
impressive,” said John Perry, SVP, advertising and communications at Valero Energy Corporation.
This appointment marks the seventh new business win for Campbell Ewald in seven
months, following Travelocity, Empire State Development and Country Inns & Suites, among others.
