Oh Look! Another Agency Uses Google Cardboard For Their Holiday Feat

Maryland-based RP3 is distributing Google Cardboard headsets for...uh...am I having deja vu? Didn't some other agency just do the Google Cardboard holiday card thing? Why yes, they did. Just last week, San Francisco-based Transparent House created a Google Cardboard-powered VR app called Happy VR. See? I'm not going crazy and every agency continues to jump on the latest trendlet and ride it into the ground until some new trendlet catches their fickle eye.

Anyway, back to RP3. The agency is distributing specialized Google Cardboard headsets designed to turn the holiday donation process into something a bit more whimsical. The effort is called RPTree.

To experience the virtual reality donation experience, anyone can visit on a mobile device and slide the phone into the Google Cardboard viewer. Those who do will be transported into a 360-degree winter wonderland where trees are decorated and adorned with each participating non-profit's logo. Apparently, however, there are yetis in hiding within this virtual world -- so as you travel through it, do beware.

The effort benefits three DC-area non-profits: Junior Achievement, Children's National Health System and the Washington Area Women's Foundation.

For those who don't receive their own pair of specialized Google Cardboard headsets, you can head over to the campaign Web site for a 2D experience that involves aiming your mouse at one of three non-profit signs and click to toss a snowball. It's much harder than it sounds.
