Priest Gives Newspaper Exorcism For Political Bias

If you think media bias is a problem in this country, you ain’t seen nuthin. Just consider Poland, where the problem has become so bad, it has to get priests to deliver exorcisms to newspapers. Yes, you read that right.

They’re performing straight-up, Max von Sydow shouting “The power of Christ compels you!”-style anti-demon rituals on their news publications.

OK,  there weren’t any spinning heads or copious amounts of green hell yack involved, but a Polish priest did perform an “exorcism” of one of the country’s biggest newspapers on Sunday, as part of a protest of allegedly biased coverage.

The priest and dozens of supporters from the conservative Law and Justice party, which recently took power, took issue with the Gazeta Wyborcza’s reporting on political issues.

With protesters carrying an icon of the Virgin Mary, the priest recited a prayer for exorcism in front of the newspaper’s offices. The newspaper, which knew the protesters were coming, had a large banner emblazoned with the words “Constitution without censorship” hanging on the building.

The Law and Justice party, which draws much of its support from poor and rural parts of Poland, has sparked criticism within Poland, as well as abroad, for its opposition to the European Union, anti-immigrant positions and socially conservative views on issues, including women’s rights and LGBT rights.

The exorcism wasn’t an isolated incident, as the practice seems to be popular in Poland right now.

Back in March, a priest made headlines when he conducted a mass exorcism on around 1,000 Catholic schoolchildren who were gathered at a religious camp to celebrate Lent, causing many of them to burst into tears, faint or experience hysterical reactions.

Why, it’s so crazy it sounds like something that would happen in this country!
