But it’s also the year we all get that little bit smarter thanks to the rapid rise of the Internet of Things (IoT); connecting our everyday electrical appliances and objects, from our kettles and thermostats to our lightbulbs and security cameras, and collating the information they gather in an attempt to make our lives easier, more secure and more energy efficient.
