“AppScotch’s technology and team will strengthen App Annie’s ability to help app publishers run a better app business,” an App Annie spokesman said on Monday.
To date, the deal marks App Annie’s third such acquisition. In 2014, it picked up rival app marketing firm Distimo. More recently, it bought app data provider Mobidia, last year.
App Annie has more than enough money to be picking off these smallish startups. At the beginning of the year, it raised $63 million in Series E funding in “mostly equity” and debt.
All told, App Annie has so far received $157 million in financing from investors., such as e.ventures, Greenspring Associates, Greycroft Partners, IDG Capital Partners, Institutional Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital.
Among other services, App Annie makes market data products that tracking revenues, downloads, advertising, user metrics and consumer engagement.
Headquartered in San Francisco, the company currently counts more than 425 employees spread across 15 global offices.
