VML, the Kansas City-based agency, has extended its lease for its current offices
there for another 11 years but, more interestingly, has added 30,444 square feet bringing its total Kansas City office space up to 97,769. The lease agreement is pending City Council
approval.
The Kansas City Star speculates this could allow the agency to add up to 376 more employees to the agency's space near the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. This expansion
is in addition to the agency's second Kansas City home at 2020 Baltimore Avenue.
Currently, the agency employs 2,500 employees across it 28 global offices with 533 in Kansas
City.
Of the office expansion, an official statement from the agency read, "We're all very excited about the lease renewal, but it is subject to the city and VML working through the
final stages, including City Council approval. We look forward to forging ahead, working toward renewal and continuing our partnership. More details about the lease renewal will come after City
Council approval."
Currently, the agency, part of Y&R North America, is ranked No. 9 on Ad Age's 2016 Agency A-List and is said to have $184 million gross revenue.
