USA Today Network Adds 3 Key Posts To Video Team

The USA Today Network is building up its video organization with the addition of three new positions across editorial, revenue and product.

Russ Torres has been hired as vice president of digital video content and strategy. Kent Laird will join as director of video product management. Michael Krinzman, who has been with the company for over three years, has been promoted to vice president of video strategy and revenue.

In their new positions, Torres, Laird and Krinzman will work closely together to distribute video content and increase consumption, improve users’ experience across platforms, offer advertising solutions and scale across USA Today Network’s portfolio of brands, according to the company.

In a statement, USA Today Network also revealed its plans to “focus on enhancing video” within its franchises and across verticals and social platforms like Facebook Live. This will include the network’s efforts with its first ad unit native to VR, the Cubemercial, Gravity unit and its Hi-Vu player, as well as its creative studio, GET Creative’s branded VR content.

Torres is a broadcast news producer and journalist and was previously head of Yahoo! Studios. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the video production, programming and strategy for the USA Today Network across multiple platforms and audiences.

Laird will be focused on video products across the network, specifically leveraging video inside its native apps. Laird previously served as the director of video digital strategy at BroadbandTV and spent nine years at Microsoft.

Krinzman will be responsible for building the video business and helping to solve the needs of the company’s customers by working closely with Torres and Laird, the Network stated.
