Brit + Co Launches Licensing Business With Cheeky Disposable Tableware

Brit + Co, a lifestyle site targeting millennial women, is venturing into the licensing business with the launch of its first product line, in collaboration with disposable and porcelain tableware company Cheeky.

Brit + Co for Cheeky is a “brightly designed" and "budget-friendly" collection of disposable tableware made up of paper plates, napkins, plastic cups and hot beverage cups ($3.59 each). Developed by design teams at both companies,  will be available in Target stores and on  Target.com in early October.

“This tableware line is the first use of our design expertise and understanding of our audience to create fun, stylish products,” Brit Morin, Brit + Co’s founder and CEO, wrote in a post announcing the collection.

While Brit + Co has had one prior licensing deal -- a a coloring book for adults in partnership with Crayola -- this project is the first in what the company hopes will be a series of licensed products, a spokesperson told Publishers Daily.

Expanding into licensing and products was an opportunity for the company to grow revenue and raise brand awareness, the spokesperson said.

Brit + Co first branched out into commerce in 2014 with online DIY classes and corresponding kits available for purchase on its site.
