AKQA Expands To Australasia With DT Alliance

WPP digital agency AKQA is expanding its presence to Australia, New Zealand and Singapore via an alliance with marketing technology company DT. Terms of the alliance were not disclosed.

DT will be rebranding to AKQA at some unspecified time in the future, the firms said.

DT was founded in 1996 and has a client roster that includes telecom company Optus (which AKQA has also done work from, via its San Francisco office), household hardware chain Bunnings, health insurer Bupa and Tourism Australia.

The DT partnership is the latest deal in a flurry of expansion activity by AKQA, which has added more than 300 new employees during the last 18 months by opening locations in a number of new markets including Italy, Brazil, Sweden and the UK.

Combining DT’s additional 220 employees from Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore, AKQA will now have 2,000 employees in 21 locations across the USA, Europe, Asia and Australasia.

Ajaz Ahmed, AKQA’s CEO, stated: “In a world where digital is everywhere, AKQA’s passion is a thoughtful, considered and intelligent brand experience at every connection. DT’s talent and track record will strengthen the AKQA community and enhance our combined purpose to partner with progressive clients to define and deliver a better future together.”
