Carrie Edwards Upped To Co-Chairman At White64

Washington-area ad agency WHITE64 has elevated Carrie Edwards to the post co-chairman, a role that she will share with the agency CEO Matt White.

Edwards, a 25-year veteran of WHITE64, has been president of the agency. White said that in her new role Edwards will relinquish her day-to-day, external client-service responsibilities to concentrate on internal areas such as acquisition strategy, industry partnerships, and succession planning at the agency.

There are no immediate plans to replace Edwards in the president’s position. The agency confirmed that it will name a new president at some point, but for now there is no specific timetable for doing so.

“Carrie will focus on helping us evolve, grow and identify our next generation of leadership,” White said.  “Her promotion recognizes and celebrates the nearly 25 years of service she has given WHITE64 and is representative of her extensive experience in virtually every aspect of agency management.”

Edwards joined WHITE64 in 1993 and was named the first female partner in 2000, an era when few women were being given partner status at U.S. ad agencies.  In 2014 she was promoted to President, making her the first female president in the agency’s history.

In addition to her White64 duties, Edwards is active in the 4As and a member of the board of The Advertising and Marketing Independent Network, a global alliance of over 50 independent marketing agencies.

Clients at the Tysons, VA-based agency, founded in 1964, include Washington, D.C. Metro, PenFed Credit Union, hospitality and food service management firm Delaware North, Luray Caverns, Bio Industries, Hilton, Tyson’s Corner shopping center, and the Washington Nationals.
