COMvergence is out with a new business report for the major media holding companies covering the first quarter, which finds that Publicis Media was the winningest group with $630 million in net new
business. The report highlights global and regional pitches only.
The big win for Publicis Media in the quarter was the $435 million Molson Coors business, for which the firm created a
dedicated entity to service the account called Connect Powered By Publicis Media. The report found that Publicis Media won four out of the 11 completed multi-market pitches during the
quarter.
GroupM was second-ranked in the report, with $290 million in net new business. The Group formed part of WPP’s new Team WBA, which won the $350 million Walgreens Boots
Alliance pitch. But the Group also lost the HP digital media account with estimated billings of $75 million.
Dentsu Aegis ended the quarter with $35 million in net new business, while
three groups ended in negative territory — Havas Media Group (-$15 million); Omnicom Media Group (-$395 million) and Mediabrands (-$435 million). OMG was on the losing end of the Walgreens pitch
while Mediabrands was one of the losing incumbents on the Molson Coors business.
