U.S., Dentsu Score Top D&AD Pencils

This year, the D&AD Festival has awarded 733 pieces of work out of 26,000 submissions, with the United States being the country with the highest number of Pencils with 182 and Dentsu being the largest-awarded agency with 19.

Now, these winners have to wait to learn exactly what color Pencil - Wood, Graphite, Yellow or Black - they will receive during the Awards Ceremony on Thursday April 27 in Troxy, London. There are no quotas for awards at D&AD which means the number of awarded entries fluctuates year to year. Some years no Black Pencils are awarded: the record currently stands at seven.

Adam&eve and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne each ranked as the second most awarded agencies with 13 Pencils, followed by Droga5 at 12 Pencils, and BBDO New York and TBWA\Media Arts Lab, each with 11 Pencils. This year's D&AD Next Photographer award went to French photographer Antoine Bruy.
Following the U.S., the UK comes in second with 164 Pencils, joined by Australia (54) and France and Germany (each 30).
