Horizon Media is spinning off its direct marketing practice as a new stand-alone entity dubbed Horizon Next. It launches with 45 clients and will provide brand strategy, consumer and channel insights, strategic planning and buying and data strategy as well as a full suite of analytics solutions.
The new company will be led by EVP Gene Turner, the shop’s veteran direct marketing leader, who adds the title of chief of Horizon Next. It will be based at Horizon’s New York headquarters with a second location within the agency’s Los Angeles office.
This spinoff was prompted by recent growth. With $1.3 billion of client investments, the shop indicates that as a separate entity the direct marketing operation will able to move quickly to deploy resources in new ways in the evolving DM sector.
“The Horizon Next name reflects the company’s pursuit to ensure that tomorrow outperforms today,” says Turner. “Our business sits at the intersection of three constantly changing landscapes: people, data, and media. We are constantly re-inventing our model in pursuit of what’s next: our next innovation, our next advancement in analytics, the market’s next media evolution, and the next technological breakthrough that will elevate performance. We are always making sure that we operate within a framework of balancing time-tested approaches with fresh ideas.”
