Agency Veteran Jones Joins 4As, Will Lead Its Media & Data Practice

The 4As has named agency veteran Louis Jones executive vice president and head of its Media & Data Practice. He replaces Bill Tucker, who left the organization in January for a senior post at the Association of National Advertisers.

Jones joined the 4As on an interim basis this spring. Now, the group has finalized his appointment as a permanent member of the senior staff.

In addition to overseeing 4A’s media-related committees and task forces, he will serve as liaison with industry associations — specifically ANA and IAB — to lead efforts that address industry-wide issues, including the contentious issue of transparency.

The 4As and the ANA have been butting heads over that issue since before the latter issued its Transparency Report last year.

Jones will also take the lead on industry discussions about issues such as brand safety, cross-media measurement and the establishment of best practices in areas such as programmatic buying.

“Louis started at the 4As in March on an interim basis and quickly became an integral part of the team,” stated Marla Kaplowitz, 4As president and CEO. “He has worked to identify internal and external opportunities, including a new focus for the Media Leadership Council, and has fostered positive relationships with partners.”

Jones began his advertising career at J. Walter Thompson. He has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as the CEO, North America, for Maxus for nearly five years until 2014, when Kaplowitz was running sibling agency MEC. Earlier, he was director of global service excellence at Havas Digital.

Prior to joining the 4As, Jones spent two years consulting with clients in marketing and media. He will be based at the 4A’s New York headquarters.
