Mimecast Ltd., the email and data security company, has launched Mimecast Cloud Archive, a data repository that allows customers to access their email archive on any device, the company announced this week.
The company claims that this is an advance on legacy on-premise and first-generation cloud email archiving platforms.
A survey conducted by Mimecast and Vanson Bourne shows that 88% of companies have had trouble with their existing archiving solution.
According to the study, 60% say administrative complexity gets in the way, while 48% complain of a lack of scalability. In addition, 56% suffer slow search performance.
Mimecast Cloud Archive allows for data recovery, compliance and the gathering of business insights, the company says.
“With email being the top communications channel for business, it’s growing at a rate where these on-premises solutions can’t keep up,” states Peter Bauer, chief executive officer, Mimecast.
Bauer adds, “Archive needs to be thought of as a digital memory– with multiple dimensions that secure corporate data, empower employees with anywhere, anytime access to email, and ensure regulatory and compliance obligations are met.”
