Comedy Central Taps Broadway Video Veteran To Lead Digital Content

Comedy Central has tapped Jennifer Danielson to serve as senior VP of digital, overseeing the cable channel’s digital content efforts.

Danielson most recently served as the president of Above Average, the digital production studio for “Saturday Night Live” producer Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. Since helping launch Above Average in 2012, that company has garnered 2.6 billion YouTube video views, as well as partnerships with a number of media companies.

At Comedy Central, Danielson will be tasked with developing the creative and editorial voice for the cable channel’s digital offerings, including original short-form series and social videos. She will also ensure that Comedy Central’s digital initiatives are aligned with parent company Viacom’s digital strategy.

Comedy Central has long used its digital presence to feature short-form comedy, both clips from its TV shows as well as original programming. Its digital efforts have also served as pilots of sorts, in some cases making the jump to television later.
