Report: Anomaly, Droga5 Tops In US Account Wins

MDC Partners’’ Anomaly and independent agency Droga5 were tops in new U.S. account wins for the first nine months of the year, according to analysis by agency tracker COMvergence.

Both shops recorded five wins among 80 major brands that shifted agencies during the period, per the COMvergence analysis. Anomaly’s wins included Coca Cola Light and Hershey’s while Droga5 reeled in Mattress firm and Cover Girl, among others.

BBDO Worldwide, part of Omnicom, was next winningest agency with four new assignments, including Macy’s and Frito Lay.

The report also tallied losses and three agencies topped that list with three losses each. Wieden & Kennedy lost Verizon, Booking.com and ESPN. But the independent shop also scored three wins including Airbnb.

JWT, part of WPP, also recorded three losses, including Special K, HSBC and 7-Eleven. On the plus side, it won Church’s Fried Chicken.

Grey, also part of WPP, had three significant losses as well—Cover Girl, 3M and Reliant NRG. But it also recorded several key wins including Walgreens.

The report found that among the 80 account moves analyzed, 20 ranked within the top 200 US brand spenders. And Half of those 80 account switches went to independent agencies. The report also found that 28 of the 80 brands reviewing creative assignments also conducted recent media reviews.
