FedEx Warns Of Fraudulent Holiday Emails

Planning any last-minute online holiday shopping? Then be on high alert for phishing emails claiming to be from FedEx.

The shipping company has issued an alert to warn users about a fraudulent email containing a nefarious hyperlink that infects consumers’ computers when clicked. Some of the links take email users to a site that mimics FedEx’s corporate website, while others do not use social engineering tactics to such an extent.

The report asserts that the email scam contains the subject line “FedEx: Delivery Problems Notification,” but it’s important to note that cybercriminals may have already changed their tactics and altered the subject line.

FedEx does not sent any unsolicited email or request any information, whether financial or personal, in exchange for delivered goods.

FedEx is requesting that anyone who receives a suspicious email either forward it to abuse@fedex.com or delete it immediately. It is imperative that consumers do not click on any hyperlink contained within the email, or download any corresponding attachments.
