AMC Joins FuboTV Lineup As Company Pushes OTT Strengths

Channels from AMC Networks will be added to the base package of the over-the-top streaming video service FuboTV, the companies announced Thursday.

Fubo will also allow its customers to add two of AMC's owned streaming services to their video packages: Sundance Now, and Shudder.

Fubo will make AMC, IFC, BBC America, Sundance and We TV available in its premiere package to new customers, with BBC World News soon to be part of a premium add-on package.

The announcement comes the same week that AMC announced  it would acquire control of RLJ Entertainment, a company that specializes in OTT streaming services such as Acorn TV and Urban Movie Channel.

AMC has been particularly aggressive at getting its channels included in streaming video bundles. In addition to Fubo, the company's channels are available on Philo, Sling TV, DirecTV Now and YouTube TV, among others.

As part of the company's quarterly earnings report, which was also released Thursday, AMC cited the wave of streaming bundles as a major reason for seeing overall subscriber numbers rise.

In a statement, AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan says the company continues "to evolve and adapt in a world of changing viewer consumption habits," adding that growth among its streaming services like Shudder, Sundance Now and Britbox "highlights consumer demand for subscription streaming services with specialized content."
