Trustifi Launches 'Certified' Encrypted Email Service

Trustifi has introduced a SaaS-based email platform that it says allows businesses and consumers to send “certified” emails for a small cost.

Postmarked Email acts as a digital substitute for the U.S. Postal Service’s certified mail, and can be used as evidence in court, the company claims. It also says the platform has been approved by the U.S. government, a claim that could not be independently verified at press time.

The service provides date/time and geo-based location tracking, encryption and two-factor authentication, Trustifi adds.

Email users can send sensitive messages and be notified when they are opened and read, and whether they are printed or forwarded, the firm continues. Recipients do not have to have the service.

In addition, the platform can review sensitive content as emails are being drafted. It alerts the sender of content with sensitive data that it might want to check before pushing it out.

A primary function of the service is to maintain email security with “a military grade-email encryption platform”, the company states. The encryption continues through forwarding and replies, it says.

Postmarked Email “combines the legitimacy of the U.S. Postal Service’s certified mail with the latest security features and ease-of-use,” states Trustifi CEO Idan Udi Edry.

He adds that the U.S. Postal Service introduced Certified Mail in 1955.

Among the pricing options for consumers and small businesses is the Basic Plan for $5.99 per month Pro Plain for $13.99 a month, with enterprise pricing based on the size of the company. Free plugins are provided for Google Chrome and Microsoft Outlook.

According to Trustifi, 197 million pieces of certified mail were sent via the USPS in 2016, for costs ranging between $5.75 and $7.

Trustifi says these types of content can be sent using Postmarked Email:

  • Legal documents
  • Financial records
  • Confidential client information
  • Internal communications
  • Intellectual property
  • Employee information
  • Health records
